Requirements for Internship Offer
A suitable internship experience can be accounted for CSC399 credits. However, to satisfy
the requirements of CSC399, the internship must meet several requirements in the following
list. Before sending a statement or proposal to the internship supervisor, please check
that your offer letter contains the following items.
- The internship needs to be based on 200 or more working hours.
- The internship should be for a paid position, if possible.
- There will be some technical person, if not a computer science person, that will
supervise you on site.
- The major responsibility of the internship can not be help desk, office service,
or any similar thing.
- It can not be a training-oriented or low-tech experience.
- The internship either broadens or deepens your understanding of computer science.
- You will solve some real problem, which is either more difficult than a course
project or out of the scope of the existing courses in TCNJ.
Note:
If your offer does not qualify all of the above items, talk with your employer and ask for
a change in your internship. Faculty supervisor will not interfere with this negotiating
process.
