What is a poster presentation?
A poster presentation is a scholarly presentation in a visual format. The presentation itself is mounted on one or more sheets of poster board.

What is a platform presentation?
A platform presentation is an oral presentation of scholarly work using transpariencies or a PowerPoint slide show.

How much space will I have for my poster presentation?

Each student is allotted 20 minutes for their entire presentation. This includes 15 minutes for presenting your work and 5 minutes for questions from the audience.

Where do I find poster board? Can I have a computer demonstration?
You may bring your own laptop on which to demonstrate software or display your presentation. Other PC requirements (including connecting to the web) should be addressed through the faculty member organizing the presentations. Please check with your advisor to determine who this may be.

How should I lay out my presentation?
This should be discussed with your mentor/advisor; however, visit Presentation Information for some additional advice. Also, for the most recent information on poster competition from the SIGCSE Bulletin, please visit: http://www.acm.org/crossroads/xrds3-2/posters.html

The Computer Science Department would like to hold onto your presentations for future open houses, so after you are finished creating your presentation there are facilities for lamination at Forcina Hall.

Where will the presentations be held?
Each semester we reserve a location and date/time for the presentations. If you are enrolled in the mentored research or internship courses, you will be notified by email regarding the time and location of the presentations. If you are uncertain of the date, time, or location, please refer to your mentored research or the internship adviser for the details of the event. The page contains a link to the schedule of presentations for the current semester.

Do I have to be present during the poster presentations?
YES. You must be there to discuss your poster and to answer questions.

What should I wear?
Dress like you're going out to a nice restaurant for dinner. Jackets are optional.
